About CLSU

Learn about our history, what we believe, and the core values that guide our mission in Uganda.

Our Background

Founded in Faith, Growing in Grace

The Confessional Lutheran Church Uganda Synod was founded in 2002 in Southwestern Uganda by Missionary Solomon Ayagri. Today, it has grown to over 3,000 members, with more than 40 congregations and numerous preaching stations across the country.

We are part of the Evangelical Lutheran church worldwide, tracing our beginnings back to 1517 when Rev. Prof. Dr. Martin Luther called for the correction of errors in the Medieval Christian Church. Our foundation is built firmly on scripture and the historic confessions of the Lutheran faith.
