As the Bishop of the Confessional Lutheran Synod in Uganda (CLSU), I extend a warm welcome to you and invite you to explore our website. CLSU started in 2002 in Southwestern Uganda and has now spread countrywide with over 3,000 members distributed in over 40 congregations. We are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church worldwide, with beginnings tracing to 1517 when Rev. Prof. Dr. Martin Luther called for correction of errors in the Medieval Christian Church.

Lutheran Seminary Uganda

The CLSU Seminary is training the next generation of faithful Lutheran pastors — men grounded in Scripture, the Lutheran Confessions, and a deep love for God’s Word. Currently 9 Seminarians are enrolled in the 2nd intake (2026–2028), preparing to serve congregations across Uganda.

Worship at New Jerusalem — Observed by WELS Representatives

This Palm Sunday, we were privileged to worship at New Jerusalem as Pastor Foxen (a member of OAT) and Pastor Jon (a member of CICR) observed our scriptural doctrine and practice. This observation is part of the ongoing discussion and process toward fellowship with WELS. Hosanna in the highest!

Day 2 of Our 4th Visit — Rich Discussions & Congregation Visits

Today was truly blessed as we continued our discussions during this 4th visit. We had the privilege of engaging more with OAT and CICR representatives. The conversations were rich, insightful, and full of shared vision and encouragement.

Later in the day, we had the joy of visiting two wonderful congregations: St. Phillip and Calvary.

Pastoral Visit March 22, 2026

Bishop’s 2nd Pastoral Visit of 2026 — Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church

Praise the Lord! Bishop Rt. Rev. Benson R. Barahuka visited Mt. Sinai Lutheran Church, joined by NEB members, 2nd intake seminarians, and Ordinand Dauson. The Holy Spirit worked mightily: 3 souls were baptized and 1 congregant was confirmed in the faith. A truly blessed day!
